Smart City Office

The Smart City competences were at first carried out by the IT Services, though, given the importance and evolution of this issue in the cities and the importance of the centralized management of ICT also in the non-administrative sphere, the government team decided to create the Smart City Office in February 2018 as a separate municipal service.

What is a Smart City?

There are many and very diverse concepts that define a smart city. From the Smart City Office, we believe that the following definition englobes in a single paragraph the main attributes of a sustainable and innovative city.

“A smart sustainable city is an innovative city that uses Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and other means to improve quality of life, efficiency of urban operation and services, and
competitiveness
, while ensuring that it meets the needs of present and future generations with respect
to economic, social, environmental as well as cultural aspects.”

From the Office we intend to turn València into a Smart City by helping the services and actors of our socio-economic environment to use technology to solve public problems and achieve a better quality of life for citizens.
