The 1st Smart City Congress was created with the aim of bringing together city technicians and all sector participants in a collaborative space to share trends, good practices and challenges presented by Smart Cities. The purpose of the Congress will be to allow the connection and participation of all attendees and create a space that allows them to take action, to embark on the path to truly innovative cities.

The Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces is the Association of Local Entities at the state level with the greatest implantation, which brings together Town Halls, Provincial Councils, Councils and Island Councils, a total of 7,410 representing more than 95 of the Spanish Local Governments.
The FEMP is assigned the Technical Secretariat of the Smart Cities Network (RECI). The RECI is currently made up of a total of 128 cities and its objective is to exchange experiences and work together to develop a sustainable management model and improve the quality of life of citizens, focusing on aspects such as energy saving, sustainable mobility, Electronic administration, attention to people or security.
The RECI defines smart cities as those that have an innovation and networking system to provide cities with a model for improving economic and political efficiency, allowing social, cultural and urban development. As a support for this growth, a commitment is made to creative industries and high technology that allows urban growth based on the promotion of capacities and articulated networks, all of it through participatory strategic plans that allow improving the local innovation system.
The 1st NATIONAL CONGRESS OF THE SPANISH NETWORK OF SMART CITIES was born with the aim of bringing together city technicians and all sector participants in a collaborative space to share trends, good practices and challenges presented by Smart Cities. The purpose of the Congress will be to allow the connection and active participation of all attendees and create a space that allows them to take action, to embark on the path to truly innovative cities.
The thematic axes of the Congress have been designed based on the main challenges and areas of action of the RECI, and are directly related to its Working Groups. The final objective of the 4 areas is to create smart cities that put citizens at the center and that have a 360º collaboration.
